Remains recovered in the Cook Inlet near Anchor Point on July 3 have been identified as belonging to David Meyer of Happy Valley, Alaska State Troopers announced in a press release Tuesday , Aug. 5 . Meyer was previously reported missing on June 11 while kayaking in the Cook Inlet.

Per the release, troopers were notified on July 3 at 10:30 a.m. that a fishing charter had found human remains floating in the inlet. Upon recovery, the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification.

In a GoFundMe created July 7, Meyer’s daughter, Chantrelle, wrote that David “was so much more than the tragedy of his passing.”
