MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Unofficial results from Minot's Tuesday special election are in, and the city has elected Mark Jantzer as its new Mayor.
As for the votes, Josiah Roise received 324 votes, Paul Pitner earned 1,398 votes, Rob Fuller received 1,430 votes, and Mayor Jantzer received the majority, with 2,351 votes. In total, 5,516 ballots were cast in Tuesday's special election.
Jantzer will now serve out the remainder of the current term, which runs through June of next year.
That's when the regular city election will take place — and Jantzer will run again.
Jantzer will officially be seated as Mayor at the next council meeting, scheduled for the 18th of this month. A seventh council member also must be appointed to fill his council seat.
