Things did not start out well in this one, and it wouldn’t get much better. RHP Zebby Matthews had his way with the Tigers’ offense for the most part, while Chris Paddack’s second start as a Tiger and first against his old team did not go as planned. The Twins added some runs in the middle innings, and the Tigers couldn’t get much going against a gutted Twins bullpen.
Paddack’s outing went poorly from the start. He got the first two outs of the game on ground balls, but doubles from Ryan Jeffers and Kody Clemens were followed by a three-run shot by Luke Keaschall, a recent addition from the top of the Twins prospect list.
The Tigers got a two-out single from Kerry Carpenter but no more in the bottom half.
