ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Rowan County burglary suspect was arrested after crashing his car early Wednesday morning, deputies said.

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office said they responded along Crawford Road near the Dukeville community around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. According to deputies, the homeowner who called them said he saw the suspect leaving his house and fired a single shot at the man.

Firefighters responded to a crash along Long Ferry Road near Dukeville Drive around 3:30 a.m. When crews got to the scene, they found a Ford Taurus that ran off the road and struck a guy wire. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Steven Eugene Bracken II, matched a description of the burglary suspect. Deputies were called to the scene and Bracken was taken into custody.
