OWENSBORO, Ky. — Students in Kentucky are now required to use traceable communication apps to interact with school staff, teachers, and coaches due to Senate Bill 181.

Owensboro Public School officials have expressed support for the bill's intent to prevent inappropriate relationships between students and district staff.

"We want to protect the children, we don't want any improper communication, we completely understand and support that," explained Jared Revlett, Director of Public Relations for Owensboro Public Schools

However, he says the implementation of the law is causing challenges for faculty involved in community activities or holding second jobs.
