MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Railroad Avenue is a victim of its own success, Township Committee member Theron “Ike” Gandy suggested Monday.

Several residents of the once-quiet road attended the Monday committee meeting to ask for township action to reduce speeding and traffic, which residents describe as increasing dramatically in recent years.

Several neighbors spoke with the township governing body about traffic backups, raising concerns about dangerous conditions. Among them was John Siciliano, who lives on the street.

“I moved down there in 1981, and the only thing that came down that street,” he said, before Gandy interrupted, “was my dirt bike, I’m sure.”
