Friedman Memorial Airport Authority board members voted last week to use funds from a $450,000 Idaho Transportation Department aeronautics division grant toward upgrading airport terminal efficiency and improving traveler experience, with airport staff members instructed to work up actionable plans for board review in the coming months.
Airport Director Tim Burke said during the board’s July 29 meeting that he expects that a bevy of new flights introduced at the airport will lead to increased travel to the valley this winter. Burke plans to utilize the ITD grant to combat strain on aging and inefficient passenger screening systems and overall terminal layout.
