MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Police in Montgomery County have blocked off Sandy Spring Road following a deadly crash early Wednesday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD), the collision happened in the 4500 block of Sandy Spring Road.

Details are limited; however, police noted the call came in around 3:20 a.m. on Aug. 6, and all vehicles involved remained at the scene.

It is currently unknown how many vehicles were involved in the collision and if any other injuries were reported.

As of Wednesday morning, westbound lanes on Sandy Spring Road were closed at Birmingham Drive, causing drivers to find alternative routes.

The crash remains under investigation.
