LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Louisville mother has been indicted after allegedly attacking her 6-year-old daughter in June.

Zeinab Abdi, 40, was indicted on Tuesday by a Jefferson County grand jury on criminal charges of attempted murder, assault, and criminal abuse of a victim under 12 years old.

According to an arrest citation, Abdi was arrested on June 19, after police were called to the 2900 block of Wilson Avenue, where a 6-year-old was said to have been hit on the head with a hammer by her mom.

The Louisville Metro Police Department said the girl was found inside the home and taken to Norton Children's Hospital, where she is being treated for multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds.
