MCCOMB, Miss. (WLBT) - McComb Mayor Quordiniah Lockley confirmed Tuesday that an off-duty officer had been shot and killed.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to Pike County Sheriff Wally Jones.

It was reportedly at an apartment near the intersection of Cole Thomas Road and Highway 44.

In addition to the officer, another person was killed and a third was injured.

The injured person was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The officer’s name has not been released. Their identity will be announced after their family is notified, according to the mayor.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.
