MINEOLA, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man is accused of evading police officers while riding a bicycle on Long Island on Wednesday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

It happened around midnight near Old Country Road and Willis Avenue in Mineola. Police said 58-year-old Christopher Douso, who is homeless and has multiple warrants out for his arrest, was seen riding a bike in the area.

Police officers tried to arrest Douso, but he evaded them by riding north on Willis Avenue, according to authorities. Police said he then turned east on 3rd Street, which is where officers caught up to him.

Douso is accused of fighting the officers as they tried to arrest him, according to authorities. Police said one officer was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
