PENINSULA TOWNSHIP, MI - Peninsula Township officials will be discussing some drastic steps the township could take – from selling a historic lighthouse to suspending park and cemetery maintenance – to pay for hefty lawsuit damages.

A judge ordered the township last month to pay nearly $50 million to the wineries of Old Mission Peninsula, an arm that divides Grand Traverse Bay, in a federal lawsuit that argued strict zoning rules stifled business and violated their constitutional rights.
