Borough Mayor Grier Hopkins sees positive developments ahead for the Fairbanks North Star Borough, along with some potential challenges he hopes to navigate through strong partnerships.

Hopkins highlighted several key topics during a “state of the borough” talk at the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday, including the current budget adopted by the Assembly, new programs, and the potential for downtown Fairbanks development.

“Every day, new things or unexpected things come at us and we have to figure out how to solve them,” Hopkins said. “We are trying to put forward a new approach on how to deal with all those new situations and things and what is best for the borough.”
