Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–The Columbia City Council has approved the first reading of new regulations placed on short-term rentals, like Air BNBs. Some of the new regulations include raising the minimum age of the guest making the booking from 18 to 25 and police chiefs or their representatives can revoke a permit in cases of extreme events like acts of violence. The ordinance needs a second approval before being enacted. In June, the city council approved a year-long moratorium for any new rental permits following a fatal shooting at an Air BNB on Lincoln St.
