SALEM, Ore. - Gov. Tina Kotek has declared a drought emergency in Douglas County through Executive Order 25-18. State agencies are now directed to focus their efforts on providing assistance to this region.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Douglas County has been under severe drought since July 15. The drought has been exacerbated by below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures.

The Oregon Drought Readiness Council received a request from the Douglas County Board of Commissioners in July to declare this emergency. The declaration aims to mitigate significant economic impacts on agriculture, tourism, and natural resources.
