The Port Authority suspended service on the PATH Journal Square-33rd Street and Hoboken-33rd Street lines Wednesday — even as riders were already dealing with ongoing delays due to issues at Hoboken Station in a summer plagued by constant delays across transit systems.
PATH began issuing alerts about the suspensions shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Announcers told riders a switch failure at 33rd Street was responsible for the outages. Earlier in the morning, Journal Square-33rd Street also saw delays because of a mechanical problem on a train.
Both lines remained suspended as of about 11:20 a.m. The Newark-World Trade Center and Hoboken-World Trade Center lines were still running.
NJ Transit was cross-honoring PATH tickets at Hoboken, Newark and New York Penn Station. The Hudson-Bergen L
