FORT STEWART, Ga. — Five soldiers were wounded in a shooting at Fort Stewart, according to posts on the base's Facebook page.

There is no longer an active threat to the community, the post at 12:34 p.m. said. The soldiers were treated on-site, according to the post, and moved to Winn Army Community Hospital for additional treatment.

The call for an active shooter came in at 10:56 a.m. and the shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m., the post said. Video from the scene around 12:30 p.m. showed base gates were no longer blocked off.

Fort Stewart is located about an hour southwest of Savannah and is home to the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division. Thousands of soldiers and their family members are assigned to the base, which according to the Associated Press is the largest Army post east of
