FORT STEWART, Ga. — Five soldiers were wounded in a shooting at Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia on Wednesday, according to the base, and the shooter was apprehended.
The soldiers were moved to Winn Army Community Hospital, the base said, and the NBC station in Savannah, WSAV, reports three of them were further transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Their conditions have not been released.
CNN reports the shooter is a male soldier. No other information on the shooter is yet available.
The call for an active shooter came in at 10:56 a.m. and the shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m., the post said. Video from the scene around 12:30 p.m. showed base gates were no longer blocked off following a lockdown.
