Brownsville police on Tuesday arrested a 26-year-old man in Pharr for a July 25 crash that caused the death of a child.

Raul Rodriguez is charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault for a major three-vehicle crash at the intersection of W. University Boulevard and S. Expressway 77/83 where two children and an adult sustained injuries.

One of the children died last weekend, police said in a Facebook post.

The crash happened at approximately 11:06 p.m. when a blue pickup truck driven by Rodriguez ran a red light and struck two vehicles.

“While on scene, officers observed multiple signs of impairment in Rodriguez, including physical indicators and behavior consistent with intoxication,” police said previously.
