COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– State health officials say a rabid fox has been confirmed in Edgefield County and one person and one pet were exposed.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health, the fox was found near Block Plant Drive and Calhoun Street in Johnston, and tested positive for rabies.

One person was exposed and has been referred to their health care provider. One dog was exposed and will be quarantined as required in the South Carolina Rabies Control Act, say officials.
