BRENT, Ala. ( WBRC ) - An eighth person is now charged in connection to the heinous child sex abuse case in Bibb County.
Olivia Shailee Elam, 26, was indicted by a grand jury on several counts of rape, sodomy, human trafficking first-minor sexual servitude, and kidnapping. She is also charged with aggravated child abuse and sexual torture of a child less than 12 years old. In total, Elam is charged with 34 crimes.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office launched its investigation in February and uncovered a years-long child sex trafficking operation that happened in a storm shelter in rural Brent.
Sheriff Jody Wade said in a news conference announcing the first seven arrests, “I know God’s forgiveness is boundless, but if there is a limit, we’ve reached it.”
