EUGENE, Ore. - Firefighters faced a challenging day on Monday as multiple fires broke out across Lane County.
According to Lane Fire Authority, crews were dispatched to a field fire on Beacon Drive at 10:30 a.m. on August 4. The fire quickly spread through cut hay but was brought under control in about 45 minutes. However, a hot spot rekindled later, prompting a second response. The rekindled fire, driven by wind, threatened a pallet factory and the Oregon Horse Center. Incident Command activated Lane County Taskforce 1, bringing in additional resources.
While crews were battling the Beacon Drive fire, Lane Fire Authority received calls for another grass fire and a residential structure fire. These were extinguished with help from local fire districts.
