Roman Anthony and the Boston Red Sox have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the star rookie the face of the franchise for nearly a decade.

The Red Sox signed the outfielder to an eight-year contract extension that spans the 2026-33 seasons, with a club option for 2034.

"I couldn't think of a better city to play in for the next eight to nine years of my life and I'm super excited," Anthony said. "It's truly just a special place to play."

ESPN's Jeff Passan first reported the $130 million contract Wednesday afternoon.
