LANE COUNTY, Ore.- A teenager is suing Northwest Youth Corps for $2.5 million, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a fellow crew member while working on a conservation project in Lane County.
According to the lawsuit, the female victim, whose identity is protected, was paired with a teenage boy who allegedly bragged about being on probation for violence. The incident occurred during an overnight work crew assignment.
The suspect, who was 16 years old at the time, was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center. His records remain sealed due to his age.
The lawsuit claims there was a lack of supervision, contributing to a hostile work environment. Despite leaving the program early, the victim received full pay and an additional $500.
