How often the Deer Valley Unified board meets in executive session

First governing board meeting of the new academic year coming up Tuesday

The new school year is underway in Deer Valley Unified School District, and next week the governing board will meet for its first session of the 2025-26 academic year.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. Meetings take place in person in the DVUSD Governing Board Room, 20402 N. 15th Ave., and are also streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel .

In addition to open meetings, which generally take place every two weeks from August through July (with exceptions) and are mandated by the state’s Open Meetings Law , throughout the academic year the governing board will periodically also meet in executive sessions.

The Arizona Legislature allows for executive sessions in numerous situations as outlined
