The Nogales Suburban Fire District will soon cease to exist and Rio Rico Fire will take over its jurisdiction, after the two governing boards approved to consolidate the two entities.

The unanimous votes were cast during a public meeting on July 31. The decision came more than four years after the two fire districts entered an intergovernmental agreement, in which the Rio Rico Fire District took over all Nogales Suburban operations. ×
