COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Gov. Henry McMaster announced Wednesday that he would be issuing an executive order to limit SNAP purchases in the next few days.
“America is getting healthy, and South Carolina will do her part. In the next few days, I will issue an executive order directing the Department of Social Services to place common-sense limits on purchases made using SNAP benefits, formerly known as “food stamps,” he tweeted Wednesday.
The South Carolina State House introduced a bill in February called the South Carolina SNAP Nutrition Integrity Act, which would prohibit SNAP beneficiaries from buying candy and sodas.
