The Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to establish a new migrant detention facility in Indiana. The facility, named "The Speedway Slammer," will be part of the Miami Correctional Facility and is expected to house 1,000 people.

The exact opening date for "The Speedway Slammer" remains unknown.

President Trump's Border Czar Tom Homan spoke about the states' involvement in this initiative.

"I mean, bottom line is the states are playing a role in this administration's efforts to remove public safety threats from this nation as quick as possible, alien public safety threats, and not security threats. States are playing a role. I'm happy. I'm happy for their participation and coordination and efforts," Homan said.
