BEDFORD — A local 4-year-old has reached an impressive reading milestone before starting kindergarten. Lillie Drake recently completed the Bedford Public Library’s “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program, an initiative designed to encourage early literacy.

Lillie started the program on March 29th, and she finished on July 27th. Her favorite books to read are Biscuit the Dog, Pinkalicious, Pete the Cat, Franklin, Berenstain Bears, and Frog and Toad.

Her mom, Stephanie Drake, took a moment to share her pride in Lillie’s accomplishment. “Lillie has a passion and a true love for reading. We could not be more proud of her for completing this challenge!”
