Unofficial results show voters in the San Tan Valley region have approved the creation of the town of San Tan Valley in Pinal County.
The county released its unofficial results with “yes” votes for incorporation at 65.5%, or 8,215, and the “no” votes coming in at 33.4%, or 4,123.
Leaders in Queen Creek expressed their support for incorporation efforts through a resolution and now they are looking forward to the new neighboring town.
"The town of Queen Creek has historically supported San Tan Valley’s effort to place the incorporation question on the ballot, supporting a neighboring area’s ability to have self-determination," Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley stated in a text.
