Instagram is copying major features from three other social networks in one sweeping update. It’s adding a Snapchat-like Snap map, a Repost option clearly inspired by X (but implemented in style of TikTok), and for good measure, it’s also rolling out its TikTok-like "Friends" Reels feed globally. That’s a lot to take in, so let’s break this down.
Reels and reposts
Reposts are finally coming to your Instagram profile. The new Repost feature will let anyone repost public reels or posts onto their own page, without having to bother with the previous Instagram Story workaround. These will show up in your friends' feeds, but unlike on other sites, reposts won't be mixed in with your regular posts on your own profile, and will instead be housed in a new Reposts tab.
