Amarillo Civic Center creates new bag policy for ticketed events

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - New changes will be coming soon for the bag policy at the Amarillo Civic Center.

The new policy will ban larger items like backpacks and purses from entering ticketed events like plays, concerts and games.

As an alternative, eventgoers are asked to bring either a clear bag or small clutch bag.

The Civic Center says this new policy will greatly improve safety and efficiency during bag searches.

“It will restrict a lot of bags that we have to deal with now like backpacks and larger bags that we did not have any restrictions or guidelines on that people often bring in. That’s the whole point of a clear bag, you can check them much faster, allowing people to move through the line much quicker,” said Christopher Post, Civic Center assistant general manager.
