During its peak, stargazers can usually see 50 to 100 meteors per hour. However, this year’s event coincides with the waning gibbous moon phase, which means moonlight will make it harder to spot the meteors. Scientists estimate that visibility may drop to about 10 to 20 meteors per hour.
