SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The state of Iowa has the second highest rate of new cancer diagnoses in the nation, and it’s one of only two states where those rates are increasing.
The Iowa Environmental Council partnered with the Iowa Farmers’ Union and the Harkin Institute at Drake University to host cancer listening sessions across the Hawkeye State. Wednesday afternoon, Sioux City was stop number 12 out of 15 on the tour.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to share how cancer has impacted them, challenges survivors face, and to brainstorm ways to reduce Iowa’s high cancer rates.
