LINCOLN, Ark. — Roy Clayton Shannon, a long-time Northwest Arkansas barber better known as "Tubby," has passed away at 91 years old after a car crash.
Tubby was a barber in the area with nearly 70 years of service under his belt. Despite his age, he told 5NEWS back in 2023, shortly after his 90th birthday, that he had no plans to retire.
"I'm gonna be there until I quit, I guess," Tubby said. "I've got clients, everyone over here has followed me for years."
He last worked at his own shop in Lowell, Tubby's Barber Shop. A long-time Lincoln resident, he is survived by his wife, Charlotte, who he married in 1957.
