ST. PAUL, Minn. (GRAY) – Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety announced a list of new Capitol Security measures this week, hoping to increase safety within the walls of the Capitol building.

Starting Wednesday morning, the Minnesota State Patrol decreased the number of public entrances and added additional security to those entrances.

“Previously, there were three public areas that had 14 doors that were open to the public,” said Col. Christina Bogojevic with the Minnesota State Patrol, “[Wednesday] at 8 am, we limited that to two public areas with four doors.”

The public can now access the Capitol building via:

The westernmost double doors at the top of the Capitol steps.

The accessible entrance underneath the Capitol steps.
