CHESTERTON — The driver of a Cadillac that crashed into multiple cars in Chesterton's downtown area, injuring the 2-year-old improperly fastened in his backseat, is likely to be charged with multiple felonies, police said.
The Times is not naming the suspect because he has not yet been formally charged and is not in police custody. But the Chesterton Police Department is forwarding felony charges, including child endangerment and possession of cocaine, to the Porter County Prosecutor's Office for review and potential approval.
He could also be charged with misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a driver's license.
The crash occurred on Calumet Avenue just south of Broadway Monday morning shortly before 11 a.m
