NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A group of senior residents at Park Ridge Apartments in New Haven are taking a stand against what they describe as dangerous living conditions, building neglect and years of disrespect from their landlord.
The tenants have officially formed a union, becoming the latest chapter in a growing movement across Connecticut and the country.
On Wednesday, residents and organizers gathered to announce the formation of the Park Ridge Tenant Union, the 19th chapter of the Connecticut Tenants Union since its founding in 2023.
“It is my honor to officially announce the newest chapter of Connecticut Tenants Union, the Park Ridge Tenant Union,” said Hannah Srajer, president of the Connecticut Tenants Union.
