SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Authorities are searching the Missouri River after a rental car connected to a missing person was pinged in the area.

Sioux City Police Sgt. Tom Gill tells KTIV that a 47-year-old man has been missing since about 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. According to Gill, the man’s rental vehicle was pinged in the area of the boat ramp located at 116 Larsen Park Road.

Gill says the vehicle is not in the boat ramp parking lot, and authorities currently believe it is in the Missouri River.

Sioux City Fire Rescue has sent out a boat with sonar to search the river.
