PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is condemning Mayor Keith Wilson for ordering the city to comply with federal mandates against diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
In a letter penned on Monday, Portland NAACP President James Posey expressed the organization’s “deep disappointment and firm opposition” to the executive order Wilson issued on July 31. The order directed public officials to stop offering services and programs that are doled out based on characteristics like race and gender.
