WORCESTER, Mass. —

A 36-year-old Worcester man is in custody after police say he robbed Boston Discount Liquors in Worcester at gunpoint on Tuesday evening.

Police say officers were called to the liquor store on Southwest Cutoff just after 7:30 p.m. for a reported armed robbery.

According to Worcester police, the victim reported to officers that the suspect asked him for some merchandise and then asked for a bag. When the victim turned his back, the suspect reportedly pulled out a handgun.

Officers were able to quickly locate the suspect, identified as Liam Chagnon, a short distance from the liquor store on Greenwood Street and placed him under arrest for armed robbery.

The victim was not injured, and the incident remains under investigation by the Worcester Police Detective Bureau.
