PEABODY, Mass. —

Massachusetts State Police held a blood drive Friday to honor a trooper injured in a June motorcycle crash, urging the public to donate during the critical summer months.

Lt. Don Bossi was struck by a stolen motorcycle in Revere in June and spent over a month in the ICU with broken bones and internal injuries. The suspect in the case remains held on bail.

On Friday, more than a hundred first responders, fellow troopers and the head of the Massachusetts State Police gave blood to support Bossi.

"When a public servant gets hurt in the line of duty — whether it's a trooper, police officer, EMS worker, teacher — it's so important the public stands up and supports our public servants," said State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble.
