EAST BOSTON, Mass. —

A "technology disruption" is causing delays for United Airlines passengers waiting to take off, according to a statement released by the airline.

"Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports," the statement reads. "Safety is our top priority, and we’ll work with our customers to get them to their destinations."

Currently, there are six flights showing a delayed status at Boston's Logan Airport.

United says they expect additional flight delays throughout the evening as they work through the issue.
