MOUNT PLEASANT — Anchor-tenant Belk has chimed in on discussions about future plans for Towne Centre and the company isn’t mincing words for the property owners.
The retail giant has been at the center of Continental Realty Corporation’s reason to shore up redevelopment plans for the Mount Pleasant Shopping Center it owns. The Maryland investment firm is seeking approval for a new hotel, greenspace, housing and parking, with considerations should Belk or the nearby movie theater vacate early.
When the plans went before the Mount Pleasant Planning Committee again Aug. 4 — following a deferral on June 30 — Belk staffers clarified they aren’t going anywhere.
