BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WSPA)- It's the 48th year anniversary for a sweet festival in Black Mountain this weekend.

The Sourwood Festival is named for sourwood honey, an Appalachian honey made from the sourwood tree blossoms.

The festival kicks off the summer’s honey-selling season, with plenty of honey vendors, beekeeping demos, and live bees on display.

There's around 170+ artisan vendors set up along Cherry Street, Sutton Avenue, Black Mountain Avenue, and parts of Terry Estates.

Browse handmade jewelry, pottery, live music, food and a kids zone for families.

The festival will include the Center for Honey Bee Research in Asheville, N.C. and Little Jay Bird farm in Fairview, showing off local honey and other soaps and skin care products.
