The Mud Hens bats were hot in Kentucky as they swept Wednesday’s doubleheader, scoring 22 runs across the pair of seven inning contests.

They jumped right out to an early lead in Game 1. Hao-Yu Lee led off the game with a double to left, and Trey Sweeney beat out a soft grounder to third. Lee advanced to third on the play and scored on Justyn-Henry Malloy’s sacrifice fly. Tomás Nido cracked a solo shot, his third of the year, in the second inning, and the Hens had a 2-0 lead.

Sawyer Gipson-Long go the start as the Tigers build him back up. He wasn’t as good this time out, but tossed 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball. He kept the hard contact to a minimum, but the Bats did piece together hits in the second and fourth to put a pair of runs on the board. It wasn’t anywhere near enough.
