Dexter Lawson, Jr., says he never worried his time in the CFL was up when the Blue Bombers cut him after training camp in June.

The product of Bloomfield, Conn., just went home and kept in shape, while keeping in touch with teammates he’d gotten to know so well in such a short time.

“Always being overly prepared,” is how Lawson put it. “If you’re always ready, you never gotta get ready.”

Just days after the Bombers brought him back, the 25-year-old defensive back appears on the verge of getting into the lineup in Calgary on Saturday.

An injury to Jamal Parker has caused a shuffle in the secondary, Lawson getting the call he was hoping would come his way.

The call from Winnipeg came just as he’d finished a two-week stint with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Arena League.
