As a string of high-profile summer events prepare to kick off in Winkler, the Manitoba government has issued an emergency order to begin mosquito fogging after detecting dangerously high levels of mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus (WNV).
Fogging will take place overnight on August 8–9 and August 11–12, using DeltaGard 20EW, a federally approved, reduced-risk pesticide. The treatment zone includes the city of Winkler and a 3-kilometre buffer encompassing Reinfeld, Chortitz, and Schanzenfeld.
