Winnipeg police are appealing for public assistance as the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run from last summer reaches its one-year mark.

On August 8, 2024, at about 3:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to Queen Elizabeth Way near Mayfair Avenue after a report of an injured man. Officers found 26-year-old Tanner Barry Keeper with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

Investigators determined that Keeper had been walking across Queen Elizabeth Way when he fell. As he attempted to get up, he was struck by a southbound vehicle, which left the scene.
