Gypsumville RCMP are searching for a 29-year-old man after an armed break-in and child abduction on Lake St. Martin First Nation.

Police say they received a report at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 about an armed male who had broken into a residence and may have taken two children.

Investigators determined that an adult woman was inside the home with five children and three other adults when a man known to her forced his way in and threatened those inside with a homemade weapon.

The four adults and three children under 12 were able to get out. Two younger children could not be safely removed and remained in the home with the armed man.
